Written and directed by media theorist Barry Vacker, 'Space Times Square' is a meditative journey through the mediated cosmos of Times Square, drawing from the ideas of Jean-Paul Sartre and Marshall McLuhan. Shot entirely from the streets of Times Square, this experimental documentary film reveals Times Square to be a microcosm of the electronic big bang — an expanding media cosmos of voids and nothingnesses, computers and networks, image and information, entertainment and inquisition, iPod people and hive-minds, flash mobs and flat-screens, black holes and vanishing points. Glowing like a galaxy in the media cosmos, Times Square where the circuits of cyberspace converge with the constellations of outer space. Accompanied by poetic narration and an original musical score.
